Climate impacts drive all forms of global displacement, and climate justice demands welcoming and dignity for all displaced people: Climate change is accelerating all major forms of global displacement, from social persecution to violent conflict.
War-making and genocide, from Palestine to Sudan and the Congo, is an attack on the humanity and dignity that all people deserve. We strive to defend and expand these basic human rights through a just transition off fossil fuels and must stand in opposition to all attacks on people's ability to exist in peace. Militarism furthers the climate crisis and is contrary to the just transition and repair of the Earth we demand.

On September 20th world leaders will be gathering in New York City for the UN General Assembly and Climate Week. This is a critical moment for us to show the world we are revolting against Trump and the Billionaire Class. This is also a key opportunity for the US climate movement to put forward demands ahead of the UNFCCC/COP in Brazil in November.

The Make Billionaires Pay mobilization invites climate justice organizers and people to take action on September 20th with a focus on shutting down billionaires, fascists, and polluters, while lifting up immigrant justice and anti-militarism/genocide as key pieces of our fight. We also invite people to take action on September 21st during the Sun Day mobilizations convened by Fossil Free Media with partners like Third Act, Solar United Neighbors, GreenFaith, Sierra Club and others to speed up, build, and connect more solar power and clean energy as another step in the arc of mobilizations around climate justice.
We’re in communication and collaboration with the organizers of Sun Day and our hope is that these events will feed and support each other.
We believe there should be massive protests and mobilizations happening every week, every day. This is a moment to up the ante. Let's give as many people as possible the opportunity to plug into the uprising.

We’ve seen number of mass mobilizations this year (No Kings, May Day, Hands Off, etc)
Mobilizations like this are incredible but need to be sustained to grow in scale. And they need to offer people onramps into the movement- ways to to keep people engaged and get folks organized within their communities to create change.
This September there will be another mass mobilization on labor day led by our friends in Labor.
There are already folks starting to plan for mass mobilizations around earth day next year.
This is also a moment for the US climate movement to put forward demands ahead of the UNFCCC/COP in Brasil in November.

Folks should expect to take part in a large scale rally and march. Details will be developed over time, and in alignment with NYC organizations. We’ll update you as plans come together.
